First problem: I don't own a sewing machine.
Second problem: I have no idea how to make a pillow.
I googled "no sew pillows" and figured out that it's actually pretty simple. Apparently there is iron-on adhesive tape that can be used in lieu of a sewing machine - who knew?! I decided this is a project I can do. I mean, I'm a college educated individual. I can figure out how to make a pillow.
Colin and I took an afternoon trip to Joann Fabrics and feverishly searched the fabric section for the perfect print. That's when I spotted this:
It's perfect! Not too bright or girly and it matches the current decor fairly well. After picking up the adhesive tape & stuffing for the pillow, I headed home with visions of my new pillow dancing in my head. Then I realized - literally as I was pulling out of the parking lot - I probably should have gotten two pieces of fabric. Shoot. I contemplated going back in but I didn't feel like lugging Colin and his carseat back into the store. Plus it gives me an excuse to leave the house again.
So my DIY pillow project is to be continued...stay tuned!
****Update****
Remember when I said "I'm a college educated individual. I can figure out how to make a pillow"? Well....turns out, I'm not that smart after all. Remember what mama says, people: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"! Anyway, the adhesive tape has done me in. I can't figure it out. I tried, I really tried. But the directions are awful. Apparently there is supposed to be 3 layers to the tape but I can only find 2.
I'm not giving up on the pillow though. Just that dang tape. And I may actually attempt it again and try turning up the heat on my iron to see if that helps.
I have a stash of cash that's going towards a sewing machine as soon as I find one I like and then I'll attempt the pillow again - among other things.
Look on overstock.com for a sewing machine. As a beginner, just keep it simple.
