Having a ball at the zoo!

Today we went to the zoo with some of Colin's daycare friends. The timing couldn't have worked out better. Mark and I had the day off work (for Good Friday) so we were free to tag along and join in all the fun!
The morning did start out kind of rough. Colin woke up pretty early but luckily, Mark got him back to sleep for about an hour. He was still pretty crabby up until we left. If he were older, it would have been one of those times where, as parents, we would have said "If you can't behave better, we're not going". I knew once we got to the zoo, Colin would be fine. And he was. Thank goodness!

From the moment we got inside, Colin was pointing at everything and babbling so much. Every exhibit brought a new level of excitement. The otters were by far his favorite (I think). He got super excited by them and I swear I thought that was going to be the moment when he would start blurting out words - ha ha!

The least favorite part was the Ice Age exhibit. Mark and I thought it was really awesome but the animals were life size replicas so they were frightening for a one year old. Even Colin's BFF Asa was scared! Poor kiddos.

Mark's proudest moment came as we were leaving. We noticed that there was a group of kids gathered around a zoo keeper and she was holding...an alligator! Mark practically sprinted towards the group. I kind of lagged behind with the stroller...until I realized Mark was actually going to let Colin touch it. I ditched the stroller and cut in front of a bunch of people. There was no way I wasn't getting a picture!

It was such a great day. It was nice to spend time as a family and with our friends! We bought a zoo membership so I'm sure we'll going back quite frequently :)
