I'm not going to lie...Christmas totally snuck up on me this year. Mark and I both love the holiday season and most days I'm amazed that we found the time to put up our tree. But now that I'm cooped up in the house 24/7 with the baby, I've been thinking a lot about Christmas and the traditions Mark & I have. I realized that we have traditions from our respective childhoods but we have no new traditions to start with Colin.
I mentioned to Mark that we should create one or two. I wanted to get Christmas pajamas for everyone to open on Christmas Eve so on Christmas morning, we'd all be decked out. But since we have outrageous hospital bills to pay, that one won't be happening. Instead, we'll be starting small - and cheap - this year. As Colin gets older, we will add more traditions.
Our first tradition as a family will be sitting in front of our tree on Christmas Eve where we will read a story about Christmas & drink hot chocolate (the good homemade kind). I'll also be starting one of my New Year's Resolutions early (to take more pictures) and take a picture of us during our new tradition.
I'm so excited that we have a plan now and we're starting off Colin's first Christmas right. I hope he grows up to love this season as much as Mark and I do.
