The day started off with a bit of chaos when our dog Macy got out the front door and decided she needed to go for a morning run. She didn't go too far but it took us about 20 minutes to find her. After she was home safe, we got on the road.
Our first stop in Iowa City was the downtown area. It was fun to see all the buildings where we had classes, the dorms we lived in and the places we used to hang out. We bought Colin a Hawkeye t-shirt. Hopefully it's the right size so he can wear it next fall during Hawkeye football. We also bought a Hawkeye Christmas ornament for our tree. After leaving downtown, we drove past the new football stadium and took some pictures of it. We then headed to Coralville to have lunch at Red Lobster, where I tried lobster for the first time. I figured since it was on a pizza, it couldn't be too bad ;-).
After lunch, we stopped at the outlet mall in Williamsburg to pick up some items we'd been trying to find here in DM for a reasonable price but couldn't.
All in all, it was a great way to spend our anniversary! Here are some pictures from our trip. I can't figure out how to rotate some of the pictures so you'll just have to turn your head!
